Gousto Recipe Box Review

Hi everyone, so happy to be back blogging again, after a well needed break over the Christmas period! I hope that everyone is coping okay with this lockdown, but if you aren't then send me a DM and we can have a chit chat, hopefully I can brighten up your day in some way :)

So my family and I have been ordering Gousto Recipe Boxes for a while now, definitely for a couple of months, and we have LOVED them! We started ordering them in the first place because we felt lost for what meals to cook each week, and were beginning to have more takeaways. So once this online service was introduced to us, we jumped at the chance to try, but were skeptical as some of us are fussy eaters (including me, oops).

How to Order

All you have to do is create an account, select how many meals that you want each week (the maximum is 4) and how many people you want to feed (the maximum is 4) and then choose your recipes. However, I must add, that apart from the burgers and others things that are individual to serve, we have regularly been able to serve 5 people every night as the portion sizes are quite large. This could be doable for a family of 5, or if a smaller family love to save leftovers for the following day's lunch. There are usually around 50 meals to choose from, and they suit a wide variety of preferences; vegans, vegetarians and also meat and fish lovers. There are also special ranges from Joe Wicks, which we have yet to try, but I am definitely looking forward to that.

Taste

Ooo my favourite part, when you finally sit down after cooking the meal and are welcomed by the most heavenly tastes! Honestly, this household is like a broken record, every night we keep saying how nice the meals are. It enables us to try new dishes that we would have never usually had before. We wouldn't have usually tried them because we wouldn't have used the ingredients for that specific meal regularly enough to buy them or we were not confident that we would do the meal justice. However, with the confidence that we have in Gousto, we are happy to try new things as we know that they are definitely going to be tasty.

Delivery times

Once you have ordered the recipes that you want, your recipe cards and ingredients will then be delivered within the time slot that you have chosen. You have to make sure that you have chosen your recipes before the cut off date, or your recipes will be chosen for you. The only thing that you have to watch out for is use-by-dates, as that can then dictate which meal you have on which night. The delivery times are usually between 8am-7pm, but that has worked for us so far as I am WFH, so I am available to receive the package.

Price

I believe that the price is very reasonable, as ours have been around the £35 mark each week for 4 meals that feel 4 people, which means that every night we feed a family of 4 (we usually feed 5) for £8.75. If you would like a premium meal, then you will have to pay extra money for that meal. We have had a premium steak meal before for a Friday night, and it was amazing!

Overall Verdict

We loveee Gousto in my household, because not only does it enable you to have the satisfaction of cooking a delicious meal yourself, but for a reasonable price and it means that I don't have to risk my health by making regular trips to the shop, or waste my time scouring the internet for a slot with a popular food delivery company.
